SC finds BCCI chief Anurag Thakur guilty of perjury, asks to apologise or go to jail
Chief Justice TS Thakur said that the BCCI chief was wrong in asking ICC to clarify whether a recommendation made by the Lodha committee amounted to interference in the board's running, reported NDTV.
In 2015, the SC had set up the Lodha Committee headed by former Chief Justice RM Lodha to look into the cricket governing body after allegations of a betting scam in the Indian Premier League.
Earlier in 2016, the SC had asked BCCI to implement the recommendations of the Lodha Committee.
The BCCI has however pleaded that it can't implement all the reforms, which include large-scale structural and management changes, reported NDTV.
The apex court that Anurag Thakur could go to jail and the only way out for him is to apologise for misleading the court.
The SC has reserved its order until Jan 3, the last working day of CJI TS Thakur.
Anurag Thakur is a BJP lawmaker.
