India beat England by 75 runs, clinch series 4-0

Chennai, Dec 20 (IBNS): Indian cricket team scripted a memorable victory in Chennai as the home side defeated England by 75 runs in the fifth Test to clinch the series 4-0 on Monday.

Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja picked up seven wickets by giving away 48 runs which helped in destroying the opposition side who were bowled out for 207 runs.

Except Alastair Cook (49), Keaton Jennings (54) and Moeen Ali (44), the rest of the English battng lineup failed to fight against the strong Indian bowling attack which was led by Jadeja.

Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra and Umesh Yadav picked up a wicket each.

England had scored 477 in the first innings, but were put in a dire strait as India piled up a mammoth 759 for seven declared.

Visitors needed to score 282 in the second innings to avoid an innings defeat.

Karun nair scored 303 not out for India.

India clinched the series 4-0, marking another major victory by Test skipper Virat Kohli.
