Mumbai, Dec 30 (IBNS): The poster boy of cricket finally took to Twitter to put speculations of his engagement with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma at rest and slam the media for spreading rumours.

In a two-part tweet, the India Test captain said, "we aren't getting engaged & if we were going to,we wouldn't hide it. Simple."

"Since news channels cant resist selling false rumours & keeping you confused, we are just ending the confusion :)," his tweet added.

Of late, the Indian cricketer and the Bollywood actress have been spotted dancing at fellow cricketer Yuvraj Singh's marriage though earlier media reports said they had parted ways.

Virat has also come to his lady's rescue a couple of times.

Earlier in the year he slammed social media users for trolling her and defended her in 2015 after India's exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia.

Virat, who was in prime form during the tournament, failed to make it count in the semi-final match against Australia.

Anushka, who was seen in the stands that day, felt the wrath of angry fans who castigated her for the loss.
