The winners in 12 categories will be selected by an eminent, independent jury from across the cricketing community, including former cricket greats, ESPNcricinfo’s senior editors, writers and global correspondents.
Among the jurists are Ian Chappell, Mahela Jayawardene, Ramiz Raja, Isa Guha, Sambit Bal, Courtney Walsh, Mark Butcher and Simon Taufel.
ESPNcricinfo announced the contenders for the best performances in 2016 – both batting and bowling - in the Test, ODI and T20 formats.
Speaking on the Awards, Sambit Bal, Editor-in-chief of ESPNcricinfo and ESPN South Asia, said, “The ESPNcricinfo Awards are a great way to celebrate and signpost the year gone by, and over the last eight years they have created a tradition of their own. The nominations for 2016 reflect not merely the diversity of cricket’s three formats, but have also expanded to best performances from women’s cricket and Associates”.
