IPL: Kings XI Punjab beat Gujarat Lions by 26 runs

Rajkot, Apr 23 (IBNS): Kings XI Punjab defeated Gujarat Lions by 26 runs in an IPL encounter here on Sunday.

After Kings posted competitive 188 runs for the loss of sevens wickets, their bowlers too joined the party and restricted the opponents at 162 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Dinesh Karthik remained  the top scorer for Gujarat with his unbeaten 58 runs off 44 balls. He smashed six boundaries in the knock.

However, he could not manage to seal the victory as he found no one to support him at the other end of the crease.

Sandeep Sharma, KC Cariappa and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each for Kings.

Earlier, riding on South African Hashim Amla's 40-ball 65, smashing nine boundaries and two sixes, Kings had posted 188 on the scorecard.

Hitting one boundary and three sixes, Glenn Maxwell, skipper of Kings, added 18-ball 31 runs.
