Yuvraj's fifty goes in vain as defiant Delhi batsmen steal show

New Delhi, May 2 (IBNS): Riding on the performances of their batsmen, the Delhi Daredevils pulled off a crucial win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, here on Tuesday.

Chasing 186 runs to win the game, the homeside won the game with five balls and six wickets to spare.

Among the Delhi batsmen Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Corey Anderson and Chris Morris scored 24, 39, 34, 33, 41 and 15 respectively.

The DD batsmen also hit as many as 10 sixes, three of which came from Anderson's bat.

For the SRH, Mohammad Siraj picked up two wickets, followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddarth Kaul, who picked up a wicket each.

Earlier, Karun Nair, the Delhi skipper, won the toss and elected to field first.

Asked to bat first, the David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad side put up a 185 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Following a brisk start for the opening wicket (53), SRH lost Warner for 30 runs.

The SRH skipper's wicket was followed by Shikhar Dhawan, who played a quick fire innings of 28 runs off 17 balls.

Following the departure of Kane Williamson (24 off 24 deliveries), senior pro Yuvraj Singh and Moises Henriques added 93 runs for the fourth wicket to take the score past the 180-run mark.

Yuvraj, who started on a slow note, remained unbeaten on 70 runs.

His 41-ball innings consisted of 11 boundaries and a six.

Henriques, who contributed 25 runs, faced 18 balls, hitting a couple of fours.

For the homeside, Mohammad Shami picked up two wickets, followed by Amit Mishra, who gave away 23 runs for his lone scalp.   

Shami was also adjudged the Man of the match for his exploits with the ball.
