Test: England close to victory as India struggle at 112/4

Southampton, July 30 (IBNS) England put up another strong show on the fourth day of the third Test against India as they slowly move towards leveling the series with India struggling at 112 for four at stumps here on Wednesday.

English bowlers picked up the wickets of Murali Vijay (12), Shikhar Dhawan (37),

Cheteshwar Pujara (2) and the dangerous Virat Kohli (28) to leave India struggling to save the match on the last day on Thursday.

All eyes will be on Ajinkya Rahane (18) and Rohit Sharma (6*) as they start chasing the target of 445, as set by England to go up the series 2-0.

India still need to score 333 runs to reach the target.

Moeen Ali haas already picked up two crucial wickets of Pujara and Kohli while Joe Root took the wicket of Dhawan before he could play a long innings.

The tourists, resuming on 323-8, added only seven more runs as James Anderson (5-53) picked up both the wickets of skipper MS Dhoni (50) and Mohammed Shami (5) to finish the first innings at 330 runs.

Opting not to enforce the follow-on and with 239 runs lead, England declared at 205 for four in their second inning to give India a tough situation to save the match.

Aliaster Cook remained not out at 70 while

Gary Ballance (38), Ian Bell (23) and Joe Root (56) played  lively cameos around the skipper.

Cook, who was struggling with his form, showed determination and showed good touch with his willow again in this knock after scoring 95 in the first innings.

Sam Robson failed to deliver with his willow and scored only 13 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up a wicket for India.

India lead the series 1-0.

India first innings 330 (A Rahane 54, MS Dhoni 50; J Anderson 5-53, S Borad 3-66)

England second innings 205 for four (A Cook 70 no, J Root 56 no; R Jadeja 3-52)

India second innings 112 for four (S Dhawan 37; M Ali 2-33)
