Kolkata, Oct 8 (IBNS): Strong contender England started their campaign on a confident note as they outplayed Chile 4-0 In their first league match from group “F” in the ongoing U-17 world cup soccer at a nearly packed Salt Lake stadium here on Sunday.

For England  Callum Hudson Odoi , Jadon Sancho (2) and substitute striker Angel Gomes scored the goals.

England  went into attack early  and forged ahead in the very 4th minute after  Boussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho set Callum Hudson-Odoi a nice through  and the Chelsie youngster made no mistake to make it home with a nice placement ( 1-0).

Inspired by an early  lead England  kept up the pressure and dominated the proceedings all through. With Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho  scheming most of the moves England kept the play on rival’s half for most of the period .

That Jadon Sancho is a cut above the rest was amply proved  as beside socring twice , he also  put the ball on a platter  for Callum Hudson to open the account for England. After scoring his first goal in the 51stminute to make it 2-0 off a combined move , Jadon again found the target nine minutes later    capitalizing a pass by Jeorge Mceachranin .

Eangland could have won with a bigger margin but for some fine saves by Chielean keeper Julio Borquez.

Borquez, however, earned the ignoniminy of  being shown a red card  when he  came out of his box  and pulled down a goal bound England  striker Rhian Brewster in 77th minute. Julio had to leave the field  while England’s Angel Gomes made it 4-0 from the resultant free kick.

Chile , the first team to arrive in Kolkata to acclamatise well,  failed to break the tight England defense.

The only time they came near scoring was in the 38th minute.

But a header by Chile medio Ignacio Mesias following a flag kick went over narrowly.
