India-NZ T20I clash in Delhi today, Ashish Nehra will bid adieu to international cricket
New Delhi, Nov 1 (IBNS): After winning the ODI series, India will take on New Zealand in the first T20I of the three-match series at Feroz Shah Kotla here on Wednesday.
India's senior bowler Ashish Nehra will play his last match on Wednesday as the left-arm pacer has decided to retire from international cricket.
The 38-year old bowler made his international debut in 1999 against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Nehra, who was a companion to Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan in the Indian bowling line up in early 2000s, has 157 ODI and 44 test wickets under his belt. He has so far picked up 34 T20I wickets.
His best bowling figure 6/23 came against England in the 2003 World Cup.
The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m..
India will look to register their maiden T20 win against the Kiwis.
So far, on every occasion the two teams met each other, the Kiwis have defeated India.
The two teams first played their T20 match against one another in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Since then, the cent percent winning record continued for New Zealand in matches played against India.
India and New Zealand played against each other for five times.
The men-in-blue had won the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand 2-1.
