SC seeks BCCI's response on the life ban imposed on Indian cricketer Sreesanth

New Delhi, Feb 5 (IBNS): The Supreme Court pf India has sought the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI's) response on cricketer S Sreesanth's plea challenging the life ban imposed on him by the apex body, according to media reports.

Sreesanth appealed to the Supreme Court after the Kerala High Court upheld the BCCI's life ban decision.

He was handed the ban in a 2013 IPL spot fixing scandal, reports said.

All the 36 accused in the spot-fixing case, including Sreesanth, co-accused Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila, were let off by a Patiala House Court in July, 2015. The BCCI, however, had refused to alter its disciplinary decision even after the verdict, reported The Indian Express.

However, a Kerala HC bench had restored the life ban following a petition by the BCCI.

BCCI has to submit its response to the SC within four weeks.
