All-round India thrash England by six wickets

Nottingham, Aug 30 (IBNS): MS Dhoni's men are showing a complete turn around from their poor performance in the Test series as they defeated England by six wickets in the third One Day International (ODI) to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the five-match series here on Saturday.

After restricting England to 227, it was  Ambati Rayudu's matured knock of unbeaten 64 that helped India reached 228 runs by losing only four wickets in 43 overs.

Suresh Raina (42) and Rayudu added 87 runs in the fourth wicket partnership to help Bangladesh reach the winning target quite easily at the end.

Ajinkya Rahane (45) and Virat Kohli (40) made some important contributions with their willows in the match on Saturday.

Rayudu, however, was the man in action for India as he smashed six boundaries in his 78-ball knock.

Chris Woakes, James Tredwell, Steven Finn and Ben Stokes took a wicket each for England.

The bowlers also showed a strong performance in the match as they restricted the hosts at 227.

England openers Alaister Cook (44) and Alex Hales (42) added 82 runs in the first wicket partnership to give the hosts a solid beginning at the top of the innings.

Raina(1/37) took the wicket of Hales to give India the first break through in the match.

Ian Bell (28), Jos Buttler (42) could not convert the start they got in the match.

James Tredwell (30) smashed a quick fire knock off 18 balls to help England post 227 runs on the scoreboard.

Indian spinners shined in the match as they together picked up six wickets.

R Aswin was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he took three wickets by giving away 39 runs in his 10 overs.

India took 2-0 lead in the series.
