Mumbai, May 27 (IBNS): A powerful hundred by Shane Watson enabled Chennai Super Kings to win their third Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final at the Wankhede Stadium here on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 178, Watson's unbeaten 117 made the task easier for the yellow brigade.
Chennai took 18.3 overs to score 181/2.
Though the Hyderabad bowlers- led by Sandeep Sharma (1/52) and Carlos Brathwaite (1/23)- started off their task well but couldn't sustain the explosive batting of Watson, supported by Suresh Raina (32 off 24) and Ambati Rayudu (unbeaten 16).
Earlier riding on skipper Kane Williamson's 47 and Yusuf Pathan's unbeaten 45, Hyderabad scored 178/6 in 20 overs.
