Manchester, Jul 4 (IBNS): After a comprehensive win against England in the opening T20I match, Indian cricket team have been praised by several former cricketers of the country.

Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul played their roles strongly as India defeated England by eight wickets in the first T20I match of the bilateral series at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar tweeted to say, "Great start Team India!! Continue the brand of cricket you played today."

Lauding the men-in-blue, former Indian opening batsman, Virender Sehwag, tweeted, "Well begun is half done. This beginning is a sign of things to come. @imkuldeep18 and @klrahul11 were simply brilliant. Outstanding performance #ENGvIND"

Mohammad Kaif said in a tweet, "Well done Team India. As comprehensive as it gets and a great beginning. Memorable performances from @imkuldeep18 and @klrahul11 #ENGvIND"

Former right-handed batsman VVS Laxman tweeted, "What a wonderful start to the England series for India. An outstanding spell of wrist spin bowling from @imkuldeep18 , followed by a brilliant hundred from @klrahul11 . Well begun @BCCI #ENGvIND"

Praising KL Rahul and Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted, "Well done Rahul! What an innings! And well done Virat for making that possible."

Kohli had relinquished his customary number three slot for the Karnataka batsman, as the latter blasted his way through to a second T20I century.

After a decent start by the home team, Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav's five wickets pegged the former back, restricting England for 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

India reached 163 runs by losing just two wickets with 10 balls to spare.

Rahul smashed a brilliant 101 runs knock, hitting 10 boundaries and five sixes.

With Rahul on the other end of the crease, skipper Kohli (20) joined the proceedings and ensured India's safe passage in the first match of the three-game series.

By virtue of his unbeaten knock, Kohli also completed 2000 runs in T20I, becoming the fourth player to do so.

He also became the fastest batsman to get to 2000 T20I runs. Kohli is also the fastest batsman to get to 1000 T20I runs

Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav bowled magnificently and picked up five wickets as England were restricted at 159 runs in 20 overs.
