India athletes Hima, Anas win Asian Games silver medal

Jakarta, Aug 26 (IBNS): Adding more medals to the country's achievements in the Asian Games, India's Muhammed Anas and Hima Das clinched silver medals in the men's and women's 400 metres events respectively.

Ending in the second spot, Anas completed his race in 45.69 seconds.

In the women's race, Hima ended in the second spot by clocking 50.79 seconds.

In the men's 10000 metres final, India's Lakshmanan Govindan won a bronze medal.

Indian Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore wished both the athletes for winning the silver medals in the track events.

Appreciating Hima, Rathore tweeted: " SILVER FOR @HimaDas8 18 year-old champion and #TOPSAthlete @himadas8 has bagged a SILVER medal in women’s 400 metres! Not only this, she has created a NEW NATIONAL RECORD! WELL DONE, STAR! Keep it up! #KheloIndia #AsianGames2018."

He also congratulated Anas and posted: " MUHAMMED ANAS WINS A SILVER! In a remarkable performance, Muhammed Anas gets a Silver in men's 400 m! The 23-year old athlete has made the country proud! #KheloIndia #AsianGames2018 #IndiaAtAsianGames."
