Rafael Nadal maintains number one position in ATP ranking list

London, Sept 10 (IBNS): Spanish Tennis star Rafael Nadal maintained the top position in the ATP rankings list despite suffering defeat in the semi-finals of the US Open.

Nadal topped the chart with 8,760 points.

He is followed in the list by Swiss star Roger Federer with 6900 points.

Meanwhile, US Open title champion Novak Djokovic remained in the third position in the list.

Novak lifted the trophy on Sunday by beating Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina.

List of top 10 players is given below:

1. Rafael Nadal (Spain) 8,760 points

2. Roger Federer (Switzerland) 6,900

3. Novak Djokovic (Serbia) 6,445

4. Juan Martin del Potro (Argentina) 5,980

5. Alexander Zverev (Germany) 4,890

6. Marin Cilic (Croatia) 4,715

7. Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria) 3,755

8. Dominic Thiem (Austria) 3,665

9. Kevin Anderson (South Africa) 3,595

10. John Isner (USA) 3,470
