I have fulfilled my duty: MC Mary Kom says after sixth world title

New Delhi, Nov 24 (IBNS): Indian boxer MC Mary Kom on Saturday said she has fulfilled her duty after winning the historic sixth gold medal in the Women's World Boxing Championships.

"I have fulfilled my duty. I thank my coaches, support staffs @BFI_official @IndiaSports @Media_SAI for all the supports and beloved in me," Kom tweeted.

The interesting life of Mary was even portrayed in Bollywood where actress Priyanka Chopra had played her character onscreen.

Priyanka also wished the Indian sporting queen over her latest achievement and tweeted: "Wow! Only you could do it!! What an achievement... the first female boxer to win the #WorldChampionship for an unprecedented 6th time! Congratulations @MangteC... It’s a proud moment for the nation & you are and always will be my inspiration.. Here’s to #MagnificentMary ."

Mary was quick in her response when she said: "Thank you so much @priyankachopra It’s a blessing and hard that paid off."

Creating history, Indian boxer Mary Kom clinched a gold in the Women's World Championship by beating Ukraine's Hanna Okhota at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.

She has won in the women's 48kg light flyweight final of the championships by a unanimous decision of 5-0.

Mary had earlier won gold medals in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 editions of the championships.

Following her win, Mary said as she has been quoted by NDTV, "I want to thank the fans who turned up today to cheer me and the Indian contingent. They have been supporting me for last many years."
