Indian cricketer MS Dhoni joins 10,000 ODI runs club during first match against Australia

Sydney, Jan 12 (IBNS): MS Dhoni, former Indian captain, may have reached the fag end of his cricket career but his knack of breaking records has not ended and during the first ODI match against Australia he became the fifth Indian to reach the crucial 10,000-run mark in the 50-over format of the game.

He became a member of the iconic club by taking a single off Jhye Richardson.

Apart from Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli are the other Indian cricketers who are part of the elite club.

Overall, he is the 12th cricketer to reach the mark in ODIs.

International Cricket Council congratulated Dhoni over his achievement and posted: " 10,000 ODI RUNS FOR INDIA FOR MS DHONI The wicket-keeper batsman becomes the fifth to reach the milestone for his country. #AUSvIND LIVE ."

Indian cricketer Suresh Raina greeted him for the achievement and posted: "10,000 ODI runs for @msdhoni , Congratulations MS! What a brilliant & illustrious career. Continue doing what you do, inspire millions. #Dhoni."

MS Dhoni contributed 51 runs with his willow in the match.
