Andy Murray suffers first-round defeat in Australian Open
Melbourne, Jan 14 (IBNS): British Tennis icon Andy Murray on Monday exited after he was defeated in a five-set clash against Roberto Bautista Agut in the Australian Open first round.
He showed courage and made a crucial fightback in the match but ultimately surrendered at the hand of the opponent.
The UK Tennis star battled brilliantly before suffering a 6-4 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-7 (4-7) 6-2 defeat at the hand of Agut.
Murray is still hoping to play the Wimbledon.
"If this was my last match, it was an amazing way to end," he was quoted as saying by BBC.
Shocking his fans across the globe, British Tennis star Andy Murray, who is considered as one of the best players to play the game in recent times, on Friday announced that the upcoming Australian Open might be the last tournament of his career.
Murray, however, expressed his desire of playing till the Wimbledon.
The UK Tennis player is a three-time Grand Slam.
He is struggling to recover from hip surgery, reports said.
