India defeat New Zealand by 35 runs to clinch series 4-1

Wellington, Feb 3 (IBNS):After a poor show in the fourth match, India performed strongly in the fifth match to beat New Zealand by 35 runs to clinch the series 4-1.

After posting 252 runs in 49.5 overs, Indian bowlers bowled out the homeside for 217 runs, giving another series win for the Men In Ben in the ongoing Australia-New Zealand series.

New Zealand batsmen struggled with the willow from the beginning and it was only

James Neesham who contributed some quickfire 32-ball 44 runs. He hammered four boundaries and a six in the match.

Chahal picked up three wickets for India.

Earlier, riding on Ambati Rayudu's 90 runs knock, India scored competitive 252 runs.

Hardik Pandya, who has returned to the Indian side with this series, added 45 runs.

Pandya hit five sixes and two boundaries in his 22-ball knock.
