Pulwama attack: Kohli announces cancellation of RP-SG Indian Sports Honours

New Delhi, Feb 16 (IBNS): Mourning the losses of lives in the Pulwama attack, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has announced the cancellation of RP-SG Indian Sports Honours, which was scheduled to be held on Saturday.

Kohli took to Twitter on Friday to say, "The RP-SG Indian Sports Honours has been postponed. At this heavy moment of loss that we all find ourselves in, we would like to cancel this event that was scheduled to take place tomorrow."

Pulwama attack:

The attack had left at least 40 Indian paramilitary personnel martyred.

Militants rammed an IED-laden vehicle into a vehicle carrying CRPF at Goripora, Awantipora on Thursday afternoon. The attack left 14 CRPF jawans injured. 

The terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district was carried out by Pakistan-based militant group, Jaish-e-Mohammed. 

Kohli grieves:

Following the deadly attack, Kohli had tweeted, "I'm shocked after hearing about the attack in Pulwama, heartfelt condolences to the martyred soldiers & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured jawaans.

What is RP-SG awards:

The Indian Sport Honours was launched by RP-Sanjiv Goenka group chairman, Sanjiv Goenka, and Kohli to honour different sports personalities.
