Anderson powers England to crush India in Lord's Test; visitors score 107 in first innings

London, Aug 10 (IBNS): Leading the English bowling unit on Friday, James Anderson powered his team to reduce India to a humiliating total of 107 in the first innings of the second Test match at Lord's here.

Winning the toss, England asked India to bat first and the hosts were right on top of the game from the first over by sending opening batsman Murali Vijay back to pavilion for a duck.

The Indian batting unit seemed that they didn't move on from the first Test match as their poor performance with willow continued even at Lord's.

In another day of batting collapse, it was all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin who scored the highest runs (29 off 38) for India.

Anderson, who unnerved India, picked five wickets for 20 runs in 13.2 overs. Chris Woakes picked two wickets while the rest two Indian wickets were shared by Stuart Broad and Sam Curran.

With the end of the Indian innings, the rain-interrupted second day's play was also called off by the umpires.

The first day of the match was washed away due to rain on Thursday.
