Angelique Kerber beats Karolina Pliskova to clinch US Open title

New York, Sept 11 (IBNS): Starting a new dominance in the US Open women's singles paradigm, Germany's Angelique Kerber defeated Czech Karolina Pliskova in the final of the event to clinch the title here.

The German defeated her opponent  6-3 4-6 6-4.

She became the first German woman to win the title since Steffi Graf had won it  in 1996.
