Australia beat India by four runs in 1st T20

Brisbane, Nov 21 (IBNS): In a rain-curtailed T20 match, Australia defeated India by four runs via D/L method to go 1-0 up in the series here on Wednesday.

Chasing a revised total of 174 runs for victory, Australia restricted India to 169 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Australia had earlier posted 158 runs for the loss four wickets.

Shikhar Dhawan provided India a strong start as he smashed 76 runs with his willow, hitting 10 boundaries and two sixes in his knock.

Dinesh Karthik (30) and Risabh Pant (20) could not convert the start they got in the innings.

India kept losing wickets at regular intervals which did help the visitors in their run chase.

Zampa and Stoinis picked up two wickets each for Australia.

Australia earlier posted 158 runs for the loss of four wickets against India here on Wednesday.

Stoinis (33*) remained unbeaten till the end with Ben McDermott (2).

The match has been reduced to 17 overs.

Glenn Maxwell top scored for Australia with his 46 runs.

Skipper Aaron Finch (27) and Chris Lynn (37) made crucial contributions with their willows.

Maxwell smashed four sixes in his 24-ball knock.

Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets for India.
