CL T20: CSK beat Kings to reach final

Hyderabad, Oct 2 (IBNS): Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cruised to the final of the ongoing Champions League T20 by beating Kings XI Punjab by 65 runs here on Thursday.

Posting 182 for seven on the scoreboard, CSK bowlers then bowled out the opponents for 117 in 18.2 overs.

Devastating bowling by Ashish Nehra (2/9), Mohit Sharma  (2/14) and Pawan Negi  (2/28) destroyed the opponent's batting line-up as the side struggled at 34 for six at 7.3 overs of the match.

Akshar Patel was the top scorer for Kings XI Punjab side as he scored 31 runs,s mashing four boundaries and a six in his 18-ball knock.

Suresh Raina also bowled well to pick up two wickets by giving away 10 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin took a wicket each.

Earlier, riding on Dwayne Bravo (67) and Faf du Plessis (46)'s joint partnership of 65 runs in the fourth wicket partnership, CSK posted a competitive 182 for seven on the scorecard.

Parvinder Awana was the pick of the Kings bowles as he picked up four wickets by giving away 30 runs in his four overs.

CSK will meet KKR in the final of the tournament.
