Cricket World Cup 2023: Shubman Gill hospitalised, set to miss Afghanistan match
India's young batting sensation Shubman Gill, who is suffering from dengue, is set to miss his team's second match in the Cricket World Cup 2023 as he has been hospitalised.
Gill, who missed India's World Cup opening match against Australia on Sunday, will not be a part of the team against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
In a new update, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) stated, "Team India batter Shubman Gill will not be travelling with the team to Delhi on 9th October 2023. The opening batter who missed the team’s first fixture in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia in Chennai is set to miss the team’s next fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi on the 11th of October.
"He will stay back in Chennai and will be under the supervision of the medical team."
As per a report by NDTV, Gill may also miss India's Saturday match against Pakistan as the right-handed opening batter is suffering from low platelet count.
In the first match, India thrashed Australia by six wickets riding on KL Rahul's unbeaten 97 and Virat Kohli's 85 despite the scare from the Aussie bowling in the initial overs.
Kohli and Rahul rescued India from a spot of bother where the men in blue were reduced to 2/3.
