England name squad for Champions Trophy

| | Apr 26, 2017, at 12:50 am
London, Apr 25 (IBNS): The England and Wales Cricket Board on Tuesday recalled quick bowlers Mark Wood and David Willey in the squad for the Champions Trophy.

England selectors have announced a 14-man squad for the Royal London ODI Series against Ireland and a 15-man squad for the Royal London ODI series against South Africa and the Champions Trophy.

Durham seamer Mark Wood returns for the first time since September and will be looking to add to his 11 caps. Yorkshire all-rounder David Willey is also included having missed the West Indies series in March with a shoulder injury, read the board's website.

Three players – Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes – have not been considered for selection for the Ireland series due to their ongoing Indian Premier League commitments.

They return to England on May 15.

Northamptonshire batsman Ben Duckett and Middlesex seamer Steven Finn have both been included in the squad to face Ireland.

National selector, James Whitaker, was quoted as saying by the board website: “We have made encouraging progress over the past 18 months in white ball cricket and the squads selected reflects consistency and gives options across all disciplines."
