Dhaka:  Ex-Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud has tested positive for coronavirus.

Mahmud, also a current Bangladesh Cricket Board director, is in isolation at home and under treatment, reports Dhaka Tribune.

Mahmud thus will miss out being the team director for the Bangladesh national team in the home ODI series against Sri Lanka, set to begin Sunday, the newspaper reported.

"He [Mahmud] tested positive and is in isolation at his home. We don't need to appoint another team leader [director] as we are playing Sri Lanka at home. It is easy for the board to monitor the team. So there should not be any problem regarding the role of the team leader," BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan was quoted as saying by Dhaka Tribune.
