Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni turns 37

New Delhi, July 7 (IBNS): Indian cricket star MS Dhoni, who has guided India to two World Cup victories, turned 37 on Saturday.

Dhoni started to play for India back in 2004 in an ODI against Bangladesh and so far contributed in 318 matches for the national team.

He has scored   9967 runs in the ODIs.

In his career, the former Indian skipper has taken 297 catches and has been involved in 107 stumpings.

Dhoni announced his retirement from Test matches in 2014.

Dhoni made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2005. He added 4867 runs with his bats at an average of 38.09.

In the longest format of the game,  he took 256 catches and was involved in 38 stumpings.

He is currently in England playing for India in the series against the hosts.

MS Dhoni led India to World T20 victory in South Africa in 2007.

He was the leader of the Indian team who guided India to 2011 World Cup victory.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted: " Wishing @msdhoni a very happy birthday. May you continue to do well for India."

Former cricketer Virender Sehwag remarked: "
