French Open: Germany's Angelique Kerber suffers first round defeat

Paris, May 28 (IBNS): German Tennis player Angelique Kerber suffered shock defeat in the first round of the women's singles event of the French Open here on Sunday.

The world number one was defeated in the match by  Ekaterina Makarova.

The German was defeated by her opponent 2-6 2-6.

The match lasted for one hour 22 minutes.

This was German's second first round defeat in the French Open in a row.
