Gayle smashes 96 to help RCB beat KKR

Kolkata, Apr 11 (IBNS): Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Chris Gayle raised a storm in Eden Gardens with his 56-ball 96 to guide his side to three wickets victory against current champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) here on Saturday.

Chasing KKR's 177 runs for the loss of six wickets, RCB reached the target of 179 runs by losing seven wickets with six balls to spare.

Gayle demolished the KKR bowling and hit seven boundaries and equal number of sixes in his knock.

AB de Villiers added 28 runs with his willow.

Yusuf Pathan took two wickets for KKR.

Kolkata Knight Riders scored 177 runs for the loss of six wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an Indian Premier League match here.

KKR captain Gautam Gambhir scored 58 runs, his second half century in the tournament, as he helped his team set a competitive  target on the scoreboard.

Robin Uthappa scored 35 runs to give KKR a good start to the innings which was finished off in style by West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell(40 off 17).

Royal Challengers Bangalore were sloppy in the field as they dropped quite a few catches and misfielded occasionally.

Andre Russell  played a quick-fire knock of 17-ball 41, hitting six boundaries and two sixes in the innings.
