Rajkot, Apr 24 (IBNS): Virat Kohli's sizzling unbeaten 100 runs knock went in vain as Gujarat Lions defeated his Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets here on Sunday.

After RCB posted a competitive 180 runs for the loss of two wickets, Gujarat Lions chased down the target and reached 182 runs by losing four wickets with three balls to spare.

He hit three boundaries in his knock.

Brendon McCullum (42) and Dwayne Smith (32) gave Gujarat a strong start at the top with their 47 runs stand.

Suresh Raina later joined the party and contributed 24 runs with his willow.

The day, however, belonged to Kohli, who showed his class and smashed unbeaten 100 runs off 63 balls. He hit 11 boundaries and hammered  one big six in his knock for RCB as the visitors won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hitting out four boundaries and three sixes,

Lokesh Rahul  joined Kohli with his  35-ball 51 as the duo added 121 runs in the third wicket partnership for RCB.

Dhawal Kulkarni and Pravin Tambe picked up a wicket each for Gujarat.
