Hardik Pandya named India's T20 skipper for Sri Lanka series, Pant dropped from both white ball formats
India's star allrounder Hardik Pandya has been named as the T20 captain for the upcoming Sri Lanka series and vice captain in the following One Day Internationals against the Asian cricket team.
In a big rejig after the disastrous World Cup exit, Hardik has been named as the skipper with rising star Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy.
Cricket icon Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are not part of the three-match T20 series beginning on Jan 3.
Recovering from injury, regular captain Rohit Sharma will be back to lead the team in the three ODIs against Sri Lanka beginning on Jan 10.
In another change in the ODI team, Hardik has been named as Rohit's deputy, hinting at the selectors' eye on the future with less-than-a-year left for the 50-over World Cup.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, whose white ball performance has come under the scanner, will be replaced by Ishan Kishan in the T20 series.
Ishan and KL Rahul will keep the wickets in the ODI series.
