India-Australia series: Mitchell Starc ruled out over injury
After Mitchell Marsh, Starc is the second Australian player to be ruled out in this series due to injury.
"Mitchell experienced some pain in his right foot during the second Test in Bangalore which unfortunately had not subsided a few days after the Test as we had hoped,” said team physiotherapist David Beakley.
“We made the decision to scan his foot in Bangalore this morning and unfortunately it has revealed a stress fracture. Subsequently, this means Mitchell will be unavailable for the remainder of the Qantas Tour of India and will return home to Australia to start his rehabilitation,” Australian team informed in a statement.
No replacement has been announced by Australian team yet.
Starc was one of the Australian pacers who succeeded in both bowling and batting.
He scored 61 in the first innings of first test which helped Australia to dominate the test match while picked up the important wicket of Ajinkya Rahane in the second innings of second test when India was looking strong.
Though Australia won the first test match by 333 runs, they are trying to comeback in the series after a dramatic defeat in Bangalore.
The third test match will start from March 16 at Ranchi.
