Jammu and Kashmir: Water sports team brings laurels

Srinagar: J&K water sports team brought laurels for J&K by winning 12 medals in the 9th National Dragon Boat championship held at Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.

In the championship, J&K male and female teams won 12 medals including two gold medals. J&K bagged two gold medals in mixed junior and senior 200-metre categories while as bagged seven silver medals in mixed men and mixed junior men 500 and 2-kilometre categories.J&K also bagged three bronze medals.

In the senior mixed category, J&K emerged as overall winners while Maharashtra bagged runner-up place. In the championship, 21 teams from all over the Country participated. J&K had fielded a contingent of 49 players.

The championship was organised by the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association and the National governing body termed J&K’s progress as terrific.
