Maradona makes obscene gesture to celebrate Rojo's goal against Nigeria

Saint Petersburg, Jun 27 (IBNS): An overjoyed football legend Diego Maradona was found celebrating in an obscene manner when compatriot Marcos Rojo's 86th minute goal helped Argentina edge past Nigeria in their final Group D match of the FIFA World Cup 2018, thus allowing the former to make it to the next round in the ongoing tournament.

The former Argentine footballer took matters too far by showing the middle finger and reportedly using derogatory insults.

In Western culture, showing the middle finger or flipping the bird, as it it commonly known, is considered an inappropriate hand gesture for one to use in public.

Argentina defeated Nigeria 2-1 to enter the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2018 at the Saint Petersburg Stadium on Tuesday.

This was the first win for Argentina in this edition of the FIFA World Cup.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who received severe criticisms for his unimpressive performance in the previous matches, made a strong come back on Tuesday against Nigeria.

It was Messi who gave Argentina an early lead by scoring a goal at the 14th minute of the match.

Victor Moses scored the lone goal for Nigeria at the 51st minute.

When the match was inching towards a draw, Rojo, who had scored a winning goal in 2014 too against Brazil, edged Nigeria in a must win game with a stunning goal.

After the loss, Nigeria crashed out of the tournament.
