Minchol Son called up for Asian Games
After being called up for the National Team Training Camp, an elated Son was quoted as saying “I am extremely happy that all my efforts and hard work over the past couple of seasons have been noticed by the North Korean National Team Management. I am delighted to have been called up to the National Team Training Camp. I will make sure that I give my best during this camp, and hope to represent my country in the 2014 Asian Games.”
Son has been with Shillong Lajong FC since the 2012/13 season, and has put in some dominant performances for his club since joining them. Son helped Shillong Lajong FC to a respectable 6th position in the 2013/14 Airtel I-League and made vital contributions to the team throughout the season.
These performances caught the eye of the North Korean National Team management, who have been keeping a close eye on Minchol Son’s displays for his club side, which have resulted into Son getting ready to join the North Korean National Team training camp.
Shillong Lajong Football Club’s General Secretary, Larsing Ming Sawyan commented: “Minchol has been a vital part of our squad since he has joined and has contributed to the team’s success and growth over the past 2 seasons. Everyone at Shillong Lajong Football Club would like to congratulate him on getting called up to the North Korean National Team Training Camp, and we hope that he makes the final squad.”
Minchol Son’s FIFA Licensed agent and Libero Sports Partner, Arvind Narayan said “Minchol has put in some solid displays for his club, and fully deserves to be called up for this training camp. I am sure he will be part of the North Korean National Team soon.”
After this camp, the final list of 23 players will be announced, and Minchol Son hopes to make the final cut for the 2014 Asian Games.
