Rachin Ravindra, Noor shine as CSK beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets in IPL clash

New Zealand youngster Rachin Ravindra's unbeaten 65 and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad's 53 helped Chennai Super Kings begin their Indian Premier League campaign with a four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians on Sunday night.

After restricting Mumbai Indians at 155 runs for the loss of nine wickets on their Chennai soil, CSK cruises to the target of 158 runs by losing six wickets, registering their first win of the season.

Rachin carried forward his form from the Champions Trophy and smashed two boundaries and four sixes in his stylish knock that anchored the victory for the squad.

Gaikwad, the skipper who replaced MS Dhoni as CSK skipper last season, provided a balance to the run chase with his 26-ball knock laced with six boundaries and three sixes.

Vignesh Puthur picked up three wickets for Mumbai.

CSK's run chase, however. suffered a jolt when Shivam Dube (9), Deepak Hooda (3), and Sam Curran (4) departed fast, leaving the home side in trouble.

T20 Veteran and title champion Ravindra Jadeja contributed 17 runs at the end to take the side across the target.

Mumbai Indians began their innings with trouble after T20 World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma departed for 0.

Tilak Verma remained the highest-scorer for Mumbai Indians with his 31.

Noor Ahmad shined with the ball and dismissed four Mumbai batsmen by giving away 18 runs.

Khaleel Ahmed picked up three wickets.
