Chandigarh/IBNS: A day after wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant missed out on his century narrowly, allrounder Ravindra Jadeja went past 100 on the second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka here on Saturday.

Along with Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin also made a meaty contribution to India's first innings, which saw starts from all batsmen.

Ashwin, who was picked behind the wicket on a ball delivered by Suranga Lakmal, slammed a steady knock of 61 off 82 balls.

On the first day, Pant played an aggressive knock of 96 (97 balls) while Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli scored 58 and 45 respectively.

With contributions from all players, India are racing towards the 500-mark in the first innings.
