Rohit Sharma is likely to retire from T20Is: Reports

| @indiablooms | Nov 23, 2023, at 04:46 pm

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma is likely to retire from the shortest format of the sport, T20, at the international level, several media reports have claimed quoting BCCI sources.

Rohit, 36, has already conveyed his future plan in this format to the cricket board.

The skipper has last played a T20 match for India during the World Cup semi-final in November 2022.

Since then, India were mostly led by star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is presently recovering from an injury that  he suffered during the recently concluded 50-over World Cup.

After the 50-over World, talks are going on in public sphere whether Rohit and other senior batter Virat Kohli would continue to play T20.

Following the 50-over World Cup final defeat against Australia, India are now looking forward to the T20 World Cup which will be held in West Indies and the US in June next year.

Suryakumar Yadav, who is known for his aggressive batting, is India's captain in the five-match T20I series against Australia beginning on Thursday.

Meanwhile, almost all players, who have played the 50-over World Cup, have been rested for the T20I series.
