Saina Nehwal regains no.1 spot in rankings

New Delhi, Aug 20 (IBNS) Indian badminton icon Saina Nehwal regained number 1 position in the latest world rankings released on Thursday.

Saina moved to the top position, days after she was defeated by Spain's Carolina Marin in the  World Badminton Championships final.

Saina settled for silver medal.

Marin defeated her Indian opponent  16-21, 19-21 to clinch the title.

Saina tweeted: "Very happy to be world number 1 againI would like to thank my coach Vimal Kumar sir and my parents for the support."

Marin moved to the second spot in the latest rankings released by BWF with 80612 points.

Saina topped the cart with 82792 points.
