Shakib posts unbeaten 64 as Bangladesh beat Netherlands by 25 runs

Shakib Al Hasan scored an unbeaten 64 which helped Bangladesh beat the Netherlands by 25 runs in T20 World Cup match on Thursday.

After Bangladesh posted 159 runs for the loss of five wickets, their bowlers restricted their opponents to 134 for the loss of eight wickets.

Rishad Hossain picked up three wickets to shatter the Dutch hopes of clinching a surprise in the ongoing edition of the World Cup.

Taskin Ahmed scalped two wickets.

Sybrand Engelbrecht remained the top scorer for the Netherlands with 33 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's scored 64 runs to guide Bangladesh to a formidable total of 159 runs against the Netherlands.

Inserted to bat first, Bangladesh faced early setbacks, with Najmul Hossain Shanto (1) and Litton Das (1) succumbing to Aryan Dutt's impressive bowling.

Despite these early losses, Shakib, in partnership with Tanzid Hasan, mounted a resilient counterattack, and they stitched a 48-run partnership for the third wicket.

Bangladesh posted a competitive 159 runs for the loss of five wickets.
