T20: Jharkhand, Assam register wins

Kolkata, Apr 2 (IBNS) Assam and Jharkhand registered first wins in the Syed Mustaq Ali T20 cricket for east zone defeating Odisha and Tripura played here on Wednesday.

While Jharkhand beat Tripura by 11 runs after opener Ishank Jaggi's 29-ball-36 and Sourav Tiwary's a ball-a-run 25 took the winners 138 for 7 in allotted 20 overs at Eden Gardens.
 
Tripura, which lost to Odisha yesterday, fell short by 11 runs scoring 127 in 7 wickets despite Yogesh Takawale's heroic knock of  58 in 49 balls with four boundaries and three sixes.

The downfall of Tripura was caused by fiery spell from Jharkhand pacer Jaskaran Singh 3/27 and Sarafraj Ashraf 2/20. Jharkhand bagged four points.

Assam, which lost to Bengal in the opener, surprised Odisha at the Jadavpur University ground by winning 35 runs after scoring 137 for 6 and bowled out the rivals in 102 runs in 17.2 overs.

Assam's Shibshekar Roy was the highest scorer hitting 47 in 29 balls, followed by Dheeraj Jadav's 33 and 27 from Rishab Das. Deepak Behera and Biplab Samataroy took two wickets each
conceding 24 and 17 runs respectively.

Odisha skittled out 102 all out in 17.2 overs after Pritam Das wreak havoc 4/19 in 3.2 overs, followed by Abu Nechim 2/23 and Arup Das 2/19 and Jamalludin S Mohammed 2/19/
Odisha's Paresh Patel was lone warrior scoring 38 and Deepak Behera supported with 19 runs.
