Thailand Open: Parupalli Kashyap retires in opening round
Bangkok/UNI: India's badminton player Parupalli Kashyap bowed out of opening-round of Thailand Open forcing him to retire here on Wednesday.
Kashyap after losing the first game 9-21 to Jason Anthony Ho-Shue of Canada fought back to win the second game 21-13.
In the third game trailing by 8-14, the Indian shuttler decided to retire as he pulled his calf muscle.
In the men's doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty thrashed South Korean pair of Kim Gi Jung and Lee Yong Dae 19-21 21-16 21-14.
Arjun Madathil Ramachandran and Dhruv Kapila, went down to the Malaysian duo of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi 21-13, 8-21, 22-24.
The mixed doubles pair of N Sikki Reddy and Sumeeth Reddy B crashed out in the opening hurdle, losing to Chung Man Tang and Yong Suet Tse 20-22, 17-21.
