U19 I-League: Pune FC aim for a derby double; face arch rivals Mumbai FC

Mumbai, Jan 6 (IBNS) Pune FC will be eager to complete a derby-double when take on Mumbai FC in an Under-19 I-League Round-5 encounter at the Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Coming into the game after a 1-1 draw against Kenkre FC at home, second placed Pune FC (7 pts) will be keen to the get their campaign back up and running as they begin a decisive 4-game away run.

Moreover, having logged a 3-0 win over Mumbai FC on the opening day, Pune FC will be keen to complete a Maha-Derby double over their arch rivals at their home ground.

With the game on Wednesday being played on artificial turf, it will be important for Pune FC to settle down and play as per the plan as they step out on the Cooperage field for the first time. 

“The entire team is aware of the importance of this game. We need to keep aside all the worries of playing an away game and head into the game with a positive mind set,” said Coach Naushad Moosa after a prematch training session in Pune.

Furthermore, Coach Moosa wants his team to put on an improved performance against Mumbai FC after dropping points in the previous game.

“After a draw in the last game, the team is very much aware of how to perform and get three points in the upcoming games. We have been missing lot of scoring opportunities in the home games and that was a concern. But we have worked a lot with the players and they are confident to perform much better. I have confidence on my players and will definitely get the three important points against Mumbai,” added Coach Moosa.

On the team news front, with no major injuries to worry about, Pune FC have a fully fit squad with all players available for selection on matchday.
