US Open 2017: Roger Federer beats Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber, reaches quarter final

New York, Sep 5 (IBNS): Swiss tennis icon Roger Federer defeated Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber to reach the quarter finals of the US Open 2017 on Tuesday.

The Swiss seed outplayed his German opponent 6-4 6-2 7-5.

Federer will take on Juan Martin del Potro in the quarter finals.

Potro defeated sixth seed Dominic Thiem 1-6 2-6 6-1 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals stage of the tournament.

After the win, Federer was quoted by BBC: "I just needed a bit of a rub on my back. Or my… bottom."

"I just felt something, sort of my muscle being tight at the back. Sort of my quad, I guess" he added.
