Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman created magic with the ball which helped Afghanistan register a shocking 69-run victory over current champions England in the group stage match of the World Cup on Sunday.

England's defeat against Afghanistan in any format of the game made their chances of advancing to the next stage challenging.

England bowlers were hammered all around the park before Afghanistan were bowled out for 284 runs in 49.5 overs. Afghanistan bowlers came out with all guns blazing and bowled out the strong opponents for 215 runs.

Harry Brook remained the top scorer for England with his 66 runs knock and remained the only bright spot in the innings.

He hit seven boundaries and a six in the 61-ball knock.

Dawid Malan (32), Joe Root (11), Liam Livingstone (10), Sam Curran (10), Adil Rashid  (20),  Mark Wood (18) and Reece Topley (15) remained the other British players who reached the double fight mark but failed to shine in front of Afghan attack.

Riding on Rahmanullah Gurbaz (80) and Ikram Alikhil's (58), Afghanistan posted 284 runs on the scorecard.
