World mourns the demise of Muhammad Ali, the greatest ever

Phoenix, Jun 4 (IBNS) Leaving his fans teary eyed, boxing legend Muhammad Ali, who was suffering from respiratory illness for sometime now, breathed his last on Friday in Arizona, aged 74, triggering a wave of reactions from Apple CEO Tim Cook to India's Bollywood.

Ali was a dominant force be in the ring or outside of it.

Cassius Clay, a black American with immense talent, slowly became a cult figure in the history of American civil rights, as he forced his way through to the very top, surpassing white supremacy.

Clay, who later became Ali, had embraced Islam, following a period of personal study. The man, in the later part of his life, adhered to Sufism.

Ali's charismatic presence garnered his fans across the world.

The following reactions from stars is a testament to his legacy.

Mourning the loss of a national icon, fellow American and the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook tweeted, "He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life." Rest in peace #MuhammadAli."

Co-founder and CEO of Twitter, jack Dorsey took to the micro blogging side to express his gratitude. "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." RIP #TheGreatest," Jack wrote.

The sporting fraternity too mourned the loss of one of sports' greatest athlete.
 
George Foreman, who Ali defeated in 1974 for the world heavyweight title, tweeted: "A part of me slipped away, "The greatest piece."

One of India's most successful tennis player, Vijay Amritraj said, "Muhammad Ali, a real inspiration to me and millions around the world passed away. There will never be another like him."

Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin tweeted, "A man who inspired millions and millions of people is no more.The legend of Muhammed Ali will live on http://forever.RIP  Sir."

Former Australian player and the present coach of IPL based Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise, Tom Moody wrote, "Muhammad Ali, #TheGreatestOfAllTime #RIP."

Tinseltown too was in a state of shock, as several actor, director and musician professed their love for the deceased star.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan referred to Ali as an inspiration and an idol and said, "Crushed! @MuhammadAli was the 1st sportsman I was told about by @SrBachchan. He was inspirational and an idol."

Actor and producer John Abraham shared a quote to pay his gratitude. "Float like a butterfly , sting like a bee" sad sad sad day #MuhammadAli," John tweeted.

The sentiment was shared by Ayushmann Khurrana. "I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark." - #RIPMuhammadAli," he posted.

Director Kunal Kohli said, "#MuhammadAli #rip the greatest boxer n sportsman. Celebrate his life n achievements #inspiration."

Music director and singer Vishal Dadlani opined, "He won every fight and made it look like a dance. Even the one against life itself. #AliBomaye #RIPMuhammadAli."
