Cholera eradication in Haiti will take 'some years,' says outgoing UN coordinator

New York, July 1 (IBNS) While some 16,000 new cases of cholera have been reported in Haiti so far this year, the disease is now under control but it will not be eradicated unless improving water and sanitation conditions are given a higher priority by both the Government and donors, says the outgoing United Nations official tasked with leading the response to the outbreak.

New York, Nov 14 (IBNS) The top United Nations coordinator for cholera response in Haiti says support for initiatives to combat the disease has been “disappointing,†noting that while it may be possible to eliminate cholera in about a decade, at the current rate of funding, it would take more than 40 years to do the job.
