Countries in South-East Asia pledge action against noncommunicable diseases

Colombo, Sept 5 (IBNS): To arrest the growing epidemic of noncommunicable diseases that kill 8.5 million people annually in WHO South-East Asia Region, member countries of the region on Monday adopted the 'Colombo declaration' which calls for strengthening delivery of services for these diseases at the primary health care level.

New Delhi, Mar 21 (IBNS): The South-East Asia Region has achieved the 2015 Millennium Development Goal of halting and reversing TB incidence. It has also achieved the Stop TB Partnership's target of halving the TB mortality and prevalence rates compared to 1990 levels, WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia Poonam Khetrapal said during her speech on World TB Day Event.
