Deforestation in Brazil’s Amazon in Jan-Jun highest in five years

Moscow/UNI/SPUTNIK: The deforestation of the Brazilian Amazon during the first six months of 2021 has reached its highest peak in the last five years, the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) that belongs to the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovations announced.

Brasilia/Xinhua: Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon increased 34.5 percent between August 2019 and July 2020 compared to the same period the previous year, with a total of 9,205 square km of forest destroyed, sources said on Saturday.
